Megan Brewer

With over 30 years of dedicated experience in mathematics education, Megan Brewer is the founder and visionary behind The Math Workshop. Her conviction that everyone can be a "math person" stems from her own journey—initially not identifying as mathematically inclined, she discovered her passion through progressive opportunities in teaching, leadership, and advanced education.

Megan's diverse professional background spans multiple educational environments:

Elementary classroom teacher

Mathematics coach at a Title I elementary school

Mathematics curriculum specialist for a large school district

Educational consultant providing professional development across the country

Instructional coach for educators in various settings

Curriculum designer

Her consulting work has taken her to schools nationwide—from public institutions in urban and rural communities to charter and religious schools—where she has modeled effective mathematics instruction, delivered content-rich workshops, and coached teachers, schools, and districts to excellence.

Megan's academic credentials include two master's degrees, with her second in mathematics education from the University of Virginia, reflecting her commitment to deep subject knowledge and pedagogical expertise. She calls North Carolina home and attended Elon University for undergraduate studies majoring in psychology.

After a recent year volunteering in local elementary school mathematics classrooms, Megan reconnected with her foundational passion: helping students develop confidence and capability as mathematicians while genuinely enjoying the learning process not to mention having tons of fun. Additionally, after traveling the country for over 12 years as a consultant, Megan is delighted to have the opportunity to serve in her community. This experience inspired the creation of The Math Workshop.

The Math Workshop embodies Megan's mission to provide resources and support that help families, teachers, and students both locally and globally to recognize their mathematical potential and develop a lasting appreciation for the subject.
