Calling all Hogwarts Students! Explore reactions and learn the science behind them as we create experiments, potions, and mixtures together! Coach Anna will demonstrate experiments and teach the science and kids can follow along in real time or re-create the experiment later. (With a goal of little to no parent help!) Focus is on learning and having fun with science and enjoying each other's company. Harry Potter themed FUN!
A great complement to Coach Kevin's Triwizard Fitness class offered at 11am! Move and Play with Kevin, have lunch, and then hop on with Coach Anna for Potions! Perfect fun for any witch, wizard, or the like!
Hi Families!
This week requires some supplies that hopefully you already have around your house and/or are easy to get this weekend. The focus of Potions and Slime for Muggles is to learn and explore different ideas in science through the Harry Potter storytelling. This class DOES require some independence and use of heat/cooking so be aware of that if you have younger children. Please encourage your child to do the supply gathering, clean up, dishes, and experimenting as much on their own as they can. I truly feel that the kids taking this class are able to do this on their own! Here is a list of supplies that we are using by day. Monday:
notebook and pencil
markers, sharpies, colored pencils, etc.
2 glass jars (6-16 oz)
vinegar (around 20 oz)
white paper
black tea bags
Tuesday:
tea stained paper made on Monday
small paintbrush
2-5 qtips
lemon juice
hair dryer/stove top/flame**** parents must supervise fire*****
rubber glove or balloon
baking soda
vinegar
Wednesday:
Small jars or bowls (3-6)
3-6 different kinds of brightly colored candy (gummy bears, starburst, skittles, etc. get crazy!)
water
carbonated water
Thursday:
Slime stuff: white glue, contact solution, food coloring
Vanilla ice creme
creme soda
butterscotch topping
