Wheel Throwing Workshop with David Kim:
In this one day intensive wheel throwing workshop, David will guide students through a range of techniques and forms on the wheel. David is a production potter, making wares that cater to fine dining, and works directly with Chefs to innovate dining culture through ceramic form. David will discuss how he makes aesthetic decisions on and off the wheel in throwing, altering, and trimming. The first two hours of the workshop will focus on throwing, there will be an hour break for lunch, and then the second two hours David will cover altering and trimming pieces. Unlimited studio reclaim clay is provided for the duration of the workshop (the three main studio clay bodies). Participants are welcome to stay the rest of open hours (till 8pm) to finish their pieces. Participants will get up to 2 months to come back and glaze.
Participants should have taken at least two four week classes, or equivalent of at another studio. Students should have confidence in throwing a centered 2lb cylinder.
