About the business
My interest in Elder Care became more pronounced when I took care of my mother after she had an emergency gall bladder removal. I stayed with her for a month and fully managed her recovery. During that time, I also took care of my Stepfather, who was bed ridden. I found the experience to be surprisingly gratifying. Knowing I was a huge asset to both of them, made me feel 'good' inside. It was then, I realized that it went beyond just feeling gratified, it became my calling.
I have worked as a Personal Care Provider for two agencies in Boulder County, Colorado, and as an independent business owner in New Orleans. Having just moved here, I am now redefining my client base here in Asheville, NC.
I provide in-home Elder Care Services, which include loving companionship, errands, cooking, gardening, outings for enrichment events, transportation to and from appointments, de-cluttering, cleaning, organizing, bill paying, laundry, sewing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and assisting with medication compliance.
I also provide Post Operative care for those needing assistance, pre and/or post-surgery. Services include: appointment follow up/ transportation, being a liaison between the Doctor and/or nurse, errands/shopping, nutritional education, meal preparation/special diet, feeding, medication reminders, wound/dressing care support, and overnight stay.
I am flexible with hours as needed, depending on my clients' individual needs. I am experienced, caring and warm and have a positive attitude. I pride myself on being kind, loving and attentive to the needs of those I care for. I enjoy being with the elderly, because I value their life experiences and enjoy their life stories.
There are two other qualities about me that make me unique: I have a dual Master's Degree, which includes Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy. I have been practicing meditation for over 23 years. I believe my practice gives me a level of patience and being present in the moment that gives me the ability to be mindful of my clients' needs with a depth of compassion.
As a professional, in both counseling and art therapy, I feel I have a deep understanding of the human experience. If a client has an interest in exploring art, I would be delighted to be their guide. Art provides an effective way to manage pain and foster personal enrichment.
I look forward to hearing from you and discovering the possibilities for my service for you or your loved one.
