About the business
Unheard Voices, USA (800314465), in consultation with IRS, received this name on 10/27/2017. This non-profit organization was formerly called "Mother of Christ Julinoel (MOCJ)" originally founded in the State of Texas, September of 2003, but was granted tax exempt status non-profit organization under section 501 (c) (3), Form 872 C, in April 2004 by the US Internal Revenue Services (IRS) with ID Number:20-1018847. This organization was founded and approved for housing and other services for the aged, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable populations. We are not licensed to accept minors. MOCJ purchased this facility from its original owners and operator, then called "Dog Wood Estate." Then operating under MOCJ, the organization provided all the residents a wide range of activities of daily living depending on their personalized needs. Their family members were always involved in planning their care goals and wellbeing - bathed residents, cooked and fed those who were bed-ridden in their rooms, take others to the general dining area and feed those who cannot feed themselves; assisted them back to their rooms; we take them out to doctors' appointments, give them their medication on time as prescribed by their doctors, take them to outdoor recreational parks and other places of interest to socialize with people; teach those who are willing an able how to cook, and how to do other handicrafts; clean their rooms including not just the floor, but also removing cobwebs and wiping their room chairs and tables; provide them with in-house spiritual activities and religious services twice a week, act as a liaison between them and their community members and religious family members; provide them with indoor games activities, as well as provide them with social activities and musical entertainments from local community of churches, social services agencies, community volunteers. We retain arrangement with the local polices and firefighters for emergencies. We engage local colleges such as Southwest Community to help educate of our Aides; engaged Bluefield WV city for community development efforts, especially the blighted sections of Bluefield where we began our housing development efforts, especially for veterans and their families. We provided in-house counseling, for those who need it or refer them to other counselors if their need are beyond the scope of our services. As sponsor of the above ALF, worked with the Board and developed the Mission, Vision, and Core Values, strategic plans for programs developments; monitored and evaluated all Mission-driven programs and projects of the facility with special attention to community benefit program; Scored 100% in Social Services inspection of Standard of Care and local government Department of Health inspections in 2009.
Developed and piloted Primordial Sound Meditation (PSM) program as available wellness resource to boost the spiritual, physical and emotional health of staff and to boost morale and healthy workplace environment (a lesson CEO learned from Deepak Chopra Wellness Center, Carlsbad, CA). This program as well as its attendant program - "yoga", was being planned to be extended to the larger community as an innovative means of building or enhancing community wellness, and as MOCJ's now Unheard Voices USA's contribution to the well-being of the larger community in which it is situated and provides services, to justify its non-profit exempt status. Our employees participants to the program grew from 3 to 29 among 36 employees, about 80.5%. The organization was not set up for other kinds of accreditation such as "the Joint Commission", except for maintain state license and regulations.
In 2010, we expanded the organization's presence in neighboring blighted city of Bluefield, WV, raising awareness about the plight of returning Iraq war veterans and their amilies among the clergy and their communities of faith groups; collaborated with likeminded individuals, local/city government, a Community College, and university for neighborhood revitalization and homelessness prevention; acquired and renovated six distressed houses and turned them into housing for homeless individuals and families. Halted for financial reasons, will resume development, June 1, 2018
Select Major Achievement at MOCJ: partnered with Southwest Virginia Community College, Tazewell, Virginia, and two communities of faith and their pastors to develop affordable housing for returning Iraq war veterans and their families. Developed meditation as a spiritual tool to support staff to manage workplace stress. Initiated partnership with Southwest Virginia Community College (SWVCC), Tazewell, Virginia, to address shortage of Nurse Aides and Medication Technicians (SWVCC to teach courses free of cost and MOCJ providing classrooms, overhead costs, and food for qualified students from low income families.
