I offer piano and guitar lessons. Piano lessons can start at age 5. Guitar lessons can start at age 7. I do travel to people's homes to teach at this time. If you would like to meet me in person before having a lesson, that is really acceptable to me. My teaching style includes going at a pace that a student is comfortable with. We use books, manuscript paper, a music journal, a few games, learning songs from memory if that is what you want. Other teaching techniques include is allowing the student to ask all kinds of musical based questions to promote structural understanding and general musicianship, as if one is asking, one is usually ready to learn the answers. I devote extra energy in how to hold a guitar and sitting or standing at an acoustic piano or keyboard, as that impacts how a musician plays. If you are interested in developing rhythm skills, pitch recognition, playing by ear, music theory, harmony skills, reading sheet music including the treble clef, tab, and guitar chord notation, many types of technique, I may be able help you. Lessons are thirty minutes long. Traditionally, we meet once a week. For adults, every other week lessons are totally doable. I do the best I can to meet scheduling needs.
