I have recently opened my own company to provide individualized tutoring and educational support groups to elementary aged students with special needs. My tutoring style is very individualized. I graduated from the University of Miami with a Master's inSpecial Education with specialization in reading. I worked for the UM-NSU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities for over 4 years as a clinician supporting families and children with autism spectrum disorders. I have developed and run two educational summer camps for children with high-functioning autism or Asperger's. I take the research based strategies and skills I have learned through my educational and clinician experience and apply them to working with children with special needs. I am open to tutoring preschool and elementary children in most academic areas, but my specialization is in reading and reading comprehension. I find it highly important to work with a child on their individual needs while including their individualized education plan if applicable. Reading comprehension is a key component in academic success and can be an area of struggle for children with special needs, but with a little persistence, support and hard work we can help children reach their full potential.… Read more
