The Teaching/Learning Center (T/LC) is an on campus, after school, one-to-one tutorial site. We provide free tutoring to area school children in grades K through 12. Our tutors are students going through the College of Education who are taking classes to become teachers. One of their classes is to work in the tutoring center.
We are open from 2 to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Thursday. Each child who applies for tutoring is eligible for one to four hours of free tutoring per week for 10 weeks during the semester. Because the tutoring is free, we have hundreds of students apply each semester, but only have approximately 70 or less tutors. Therefore, we cannot accept all students, and encourage parents to apply prior to the semester beginning. Placement is based on the number of tutors available and their areas of ability in each session.
Attendance is very important. The T/LC may terminate tutoring service of a child if more than three sessions are missed. Transportation is provided by parents to and from the T/LC. Please pick up your child within 10 minutes after the end of each tutorial session. Failure to pick up your child in a timely fashion will result in termination of services.
