Founded in 1977, Huntington is a national organization that offers high quality, research based, supplemental educational testing and tutoring in reading, language arts, mathematics, and study skills to K 12 students. In addition, Huntington tutors inspecific subject areas and preps for SAT, ACT, and state and national tests. Each year, Huntington tutors over 50,000 students using its system of standardized evaluations, individualized instruction, student motivational techniques, and continued involvement of the students parents and school teachers. Huntington uses research-based, varied, and comprehensive curricula to deliver the most effective instruction. With over 120 different reading programs across 34 different skill sets and over 50 different math lesson plans across 110 different levels, Huntington s curricula is fully equipped to provide each student with a truly individualized instructional program. Huntington s Reading Program integrates active learning techniques, context based tutoring, and a strong reliance on phonics to help students improve core reading skills. All instruction provided to students includes a balanced reading program, which is in full alignment with the findings of the National Reading Panel. This program targets the following areas according to each student s needs: emerging literacy, phonics and sight words, comprehension, vocabulary, reading strategies, fluency, and study skills. Huntington s Math Program is adapted from many leading materials and is grounded in scientifically-based research, including Principles and Standards for School Mathematics by the National Council of Teachers in Mathematics (April 2000), Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), and the National Assessment of Educational Progress Mathematics Framework (NAEP 2005). K 12 students expand their computation skills and are challenged to apply their prior knowledge and experience in new and more difficult situations.
