Absolutely horrible. Rosie is incredibly rude and has no idea what she is doing. Our dog was asked to leave the class because she was barking. Understandable- but she was never allowed to re-enter the class and told not to return. We were given no instruction to help her, and we were there because she DOES bark around other dogs and we would like help in that area. This was known before we even started the class.
The KICKER though, is when we explained this is the behavior our dog displays and asked what can we do, because the shelter we adopted her did say she was great with other dogs, Rosie actually said, "There is a reason she was in the shelter. Nobody gives away 'good' dogs." The literal audacity! If you only want to train "good" dogs, Rosie, please advertise this way in the future so there is no confusion that you don't actually know what to do with "bad dogs".
Seriously though, no one that cares about animals in any capacity would EVER say that. Save your money and go elsewhere. Rosie is a shame to the animal community.

My Lab puppy had been to two beginning obedience classes in Ohio before we moved to Virginia. The instructors were fine folks and helpful, but I learned how good a class and an instructor can be when we took Rosie's beginning class.

She is a superb instructor and her assistants are nice and helpful too. Three examples of how Rosie Higdon is in a different league. First, she teaches an emergency "come" featuring a different word and conditioning the dog to it. This can save your dog's life when just "come" is not enough because something is so distracting and attractive.

Second, she teaches common-sense heeling that you and your dog can live with. There is the tight showring heel that obedience instructors emphasize AND a more relaxed walk at side for neighborhood strolls and exercise. The tight "show" heel was the only one my previous teachers used, and it's not fun or sustainable on a daily basis for owner or dog. In the relaxed walk, the dog does not pull but tends to walk slightly ahead vs. at your hip.

Third, her classes are fun and therefore effective socially for dogs. They see other dogs, and can play with them before or after class, but not in class. This gently disciplines them. And the indoor facility owned by Christiansburg parks and rec is roomy but not loud like some steel buildings. Rosie takes things at a relaxed pace and does not overload on the homework. She is also very positive about everyone's dog. You can see the difference in every dog by the end of the term.
