About the business
Boston Tutoring Services offers test prep for the ISEE and SSAT, as well as the ACT and SAT, Boston Latin Exam, and HSPT. In-home, one-on-one instruction for K-12 students throughout Massachusetts and Southern NH. We also offer Academic Tutoring and MCAS Preparation in many subjects, including English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Foreign Languages.
Our experienced staff of tutors and admissions coaches are largely Massachusetts Certified Teachers with Master's Degrees or higher. They have been trained to deliver instruction that is customized to each student's needs. We offer convenient scheduling, so that you may select a time for tutoring that is best for your family. For students applying to private school or college, Admission Consulting Services, including Essay Coaching and Interview Coaching, are available.

In the future we absolutely look forward to working with you and Greg again... When we had talked last August, you were confident that you had a solid match for us in Greg and you were 100% right! Greg was so wonderful with our sons - he was patient, corrected them in a very kind manner, was completely engaged, and supported them through this entire process. Greg worked very hard to relate the material to the boys (e.g., lots of sports examples!) and that really helped the learning process. Greg was also a total professional when it came to communication, schedule changes, being on time, etc. and we really appreciated that... We know that Greg helped to put the boys in the best position possible to do well on their entrance exams and we are so very grateful! When the next set of exams are upon us, we will be sure to loop back with you.

Scott did a wonderful job working with our daughter on the ISEE. He was unfailingly and infectiously positive, upbeat and energetic. Our daughter truly enjoyed her math sessions. Scott always came prepared with a lesson plan, bringing manipulatives such as Legos and various containers to help convey mathematical concepts. He also used creative activities which got our daughter up and moving; using her whole body to solve math problems. Scott balanced teaching math skills with test-taking strategies. I was impressed with Scott s insightful advice on how to approach questions on the ISEE test and test traps to look out for. While working with Scott, our daughter went from a tentative math pupil to a confident and enthusiastic math kid. She has retained that confidence and strength throughout the school year and has had straight A s in her school math class.

We couldn t be more pleased with our experience with Boston Tutoring Services. Our son was incredibly well-prepared for his SSAT and his high school applications. Our tutor, Alison, was always accessible and gave us excellent written feedback after each session. We will continue to use and recommend BTS with great pleasure!

Marie has been our child s tutor for three months and the difference in her math skills is amazing. Marie is patient, kind and very knowledgeable. Our child has not only improved her skills, but her confidence level as well. That was our ultimate goal in hiring a tutor.

I am very impressed with the group of tutors working at Boston Tutoring Services. It's hard enough to get 10-year-old boys to sit down with a tutor in the first place. The fact that these tutors have good energy, and give positive, encouraging feedback to the kids makes a WORLD of a difference. And, they're really bright people! It's a stressful time with private school applications and interviews, so I feel really lucky to have a better handle on things with the help of these professionals! THANK YOU!

Our experience with Boston Tutoring Services has been extremely positive. From the responsiveness to our initial inquiry, to the selection of a tutor, to the sessions themselves, we couldn't be more pleased. Several of our friends recommended Alison to us, and she was an immediate hit in our household too! Alison's warmth and sense of humor combined with a clear set of goals and high expectations had our son Max not only looking forward to her visits, but also motivated to do his best.

We enjoyed working with Chris of Boston Tutoring Services. He was extremely professional but friendly and flexible and my daughter improved her scores after several sessions with him. His qualifications as a professional teacher were impeccable. BTS worked quickly to find us a tutor under a challenging timeline.

We have been working with Boston Tutoring Services for several months. The manager always responds to requests promptly. We were matched with the tutor for my son ISEE preparation as well as with the interview coach. Both were absolutely great. What a relief to have found Boston Tutoring Services! We were incredibly impressed and relieved as Alexandra Berube found the perfect tutor for our son just in time to prepare for the SSAT exam. Lindsay came prepared and ready to help our son focus in each session, and was extremely flexible in fitting in just the right number of tutoring sessions before the big day.

Boston Tutoring Services was prompt with providing information about their services. Without applying pressure, they allowed me to speak with multiple tutors to find one that would be the best match for meeting my son's tutoring objectives.

My two daughters have worked with Alexandra periodically over the past two years as they prepared to take the SSAT, SAT and ACT tests. She was very thoughtful in determining what content areas needed to be reviewed and tailoring the tutoring sessions to those particular needs. She is knowledgeable about the material on the standardized tests and test taking strategies. She thoroughly explained key concepts and strategies, while providing encouragement and support. She has been an effective tutor as well as being very easy to work with. She is patient, flexible with scheduling needs, respectful, and has a positive attitude. My daughters and I highly recommend Alexandra as a tutor.
