Hi, my name is Megan and I am currently a nursing student at the local community college. I will not be available to provide before and after school care this Fall 2013 because I all ready have prior commitments and will be studying all semester. I currently am only available for the occasional date night on the weekends.
I have been a nanny for a family nearby for the past three years but their mom is a teacher so they don't need me over the summer. I have been caring and volunteering with kids for the past nine years and I absolutely love it! I have worked with kids starting as newborns all the way up to preteens. I have volunteered at church with vacation Bible school organizing the outdoor games for three years in a row. I have also gone on missions trips to Brazil and Guyana working in orphanages and traveling to different schools. How did I start getting into babysitting? Well growing up I was the oldest of four kids and I have always been a caretaker to my three younger brothers. So naturally babysitting was my first job as soon as I was old enough. I first started off as a mother's helper and I would babysit for family friends during the weekends. I worked with one family from age 12 all the way to 17 until they moved away. I then started working with another family at 18 when I got into college. How do I keep the kids entertained? Well, games and crafts are my absolute favorites! I enjoy making bake-able clay and play dough, coming up with outdoor games, playing a princess or superhero, and doing crafts. A favorite thing for girls I have babysat is letting them do my makeup and nails. Whew explaining why I had leftover permanent marker on my face and nail polish all over my fingers the next day was quite a story. In order to continue my passion of working with kids. I am studying to be a pediatric nurse. Being able to care for kids is one thing but being able to fix them and change their lives is priceless. One day I hope to travel and volunteer in different hospitals in South America working with the kids there. I can't wait to see where this career will take me once I finish school. Well now that you know my experience I hope you can get to know me as well. I enjoy music and I am a professional photographer too. So art and science are my two passions which contribute to my love of doing arts, crafts, and games with the kids. Well I hope I was able to shed some light on who I am.
