I have spent much of my life in leadership roles where I would care for children in large and small groups in church events such as, Vacation Bible School, Pathfinders, etc. I would care for age groups from 3-12 in group sizes of 1-15 at a time leading children in fun activities, helping them with work and making sure they are safe and happy.
Since then, I have completed my bachelor's in Secondary Education in English, so I can help with and English problems with which a student struggles. I also have teaching experience for a wide cohort of students.
I have also been an extended-care leader at a Christian school for three years, in grades ranging from 1st grade to 11th. It is my duty to make sure the students finish their homework, have snack, clean the areas which they utilize, and have school appropriate fun.
I appreciate that kids use video games, but I try to get them involved in other things quite often. I teach them card games (ERS, Speed, War, Capitalism, etc.), play board games with them (Clue, Monopoly, Pente, Chess, etc.), bring in movies (usually new age appropriate movies they wouldn't have seen yet or old family friendly ones), play hand games (down down, Miss Mary Mac, Rockin, Robin, etc.), try different sports, strategy games (Winkum, Mafia, Ninja, Post-It Game, etc.) story telling scenarios, drawing, really anything to keep their creative juices flowing and to have fun.
