About Linda

I have taught in public schools for 34 years, 12 in Ohio and 22 in Washington State. I have a Master's degree in Education K-12. My experience has occurred in Remedial Reading for 4 years, first grade for 8 years, third grade for 10 years, and fourth and fifth grades for 12 years. I have also tutored a ninth grade student. I am especially good at teaching Reading and Math. With over 7000 students not able to pass the Washington State assessment to graduate high school math, I know from my experience that the sooner the student builds a foundation the easier it is to gain confidence and become a proficient math student. The relationship with the mentor is essential to learning and believing you can achieve the goal set is crucial. I work hard at helping my students gain confidence and realize that making sense of the curriculum is not difficult. Cursive writing is being overlooked as an important teaching component because state assessments don't test it, but children I'm working with are having difficulty reading it. I am capable of teaching correct cursive script if interested.
