New to Care
This is the background check we require for all caregivers.
I started working in with children when I was 14 for my neighbor, a 6-year-old boy. I recall thinking how "totally lame" it was that I would be hanging out with a "baby" for 5 WHOLE HOURS: a period of time which seemed closer to forever than I could bare to consider. Little did I know just how much I would learn about time in his company - time, life, and love. Very young N was an only child. He had lost his father to illness. His loving mom struggled financially and consequently worked often to compensate, leaving me to tutor and care for him after school. But when she would come home, it was clear from his beaming affect to his affectionate embraces that he cherished every minute with her. I marveled at his ability to reflect kindness rather than anger for all that he had endured at such a young age. More so, I was astounded by his capacity to understand the preciousness of a moment. I fell in love - with him and the thought of working with a group so wise and inspiring... youth. I went on to work for a numerous amount of families, with children of all ages, and have easily handled individual groups as large as four children. Due to my extensive teaching and counseling experience however, I have managed much larger groups successfully and am very comfortable doing so. I also have worked a great deal with children with developmental differences, especially those with autism. In addition to being an experienced tutor, helping others to reach their full potential in a variety of subjects, I myself have been an accomplished academic, often maintaining a 4.0 while grasping other various academic honors. In addition to my direct experience, I bring so much to the homework table. I am a professional artist; I value creativity and one's imagination. During your child's learning time I would love to involve these elements as much as possible! I love to incorporate academic principles in "real life" scenarios (i.e., measurements in cooking, grammar in everyday storytelling). With your blessing, I would share these and similar opportunities to add greater understanding and value. I also genuinely love animals, so bring on the furry friends! I am responsible, energetic, thoughtful, and most importantly, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of your children... No matter what I do, whether socially, professionally, or anything in between, I always maintain and pursue one purpose: Make An Impact.
