I am Shabana, mother of 3 children, certified curriculum coordinator, director and lead teacher for children, aged birth to 8 years. I have 18 yrs of experience in early childhood education.

Learning Cottage is a curriculum and theme based licensed family daycare and aftercare for toddlers through preschoolers. We provide a fun and play-based learning environment for little learners to develop their cognitive, motor, social, and emotional skills. My daughter attended the school for three years and our graduates have demonstrated excellent results in the classroom and beyond. I am proud to say our alums have gone on to win state-level awards in math and science.

I believe good health is equally important so we provide healthy and nutritious snacks and meals. If your child is a fussy eater, this is the place to be as we use encouraging techniques to help them learn to eat independently.

Our teachers are warm, attentive, caring, kind, experienced, and licensed by the DEEC. We have a diverse body of students and teachers and languages spoken in school besides English are Spanish, French, Arabic, Nepali, Urdu, and Hindi.

Weather permitting, we take kids out to our huge, safe and fenced playground for play, nature walks, birds watching, water play (summer) and many more fun activities. We also have short dance and Zumba sessions every day. Don't be surprised if your non-dancer kid asks you to dance with them at home!

Honey Pot Family Child Care's Photo

Honey Pot Family Child Care

287 Cherry Street, West Newton, MA

Starting at $9/hr

Hello ! My name is Ivana, and I opened my Licensed Family Child Care program in August, 1981. I offer Full-time, Part-time and summer care.

I believe that it is important to provide a safe, nurturing and educational environment for your child, one where social, emotional and intellectual growth are promoted and encouraged. I care for children as if they were my own, and I have structured my program to be an extension of your home environment. The atmosphere is one of a large family, and respect for oneself and others are encouraged through love, praise and positive reinforcement.

My current license capacity is 10, as posted on my license. I work with a full time and part time licensed assistants. All family Child Care Educators must carry out a routine that is flexible and responds to the needs and interest of children in care. The routine must include activities that foster the physical needs of the children in care, with at least 60 minutes of physical activity everyday. Child-initiated and educator-initiated activities and daily outdoor play, weather permitting, is always something we strive for.

We have developed a curriculum that engages children with developmentally appropriate activities and specific learning experiences. Our curriculum includes learning self-help skills that foster independence, opportunities to gain problem solving and decision-making competencies, and leadership skills and opportunities to learn about proper nutrition and personal safety. I am also responsible for providing an environment that promotes cultural, social and individual diversity.

Progress reports will be completed periodically for all children in care. I will also provide daily written reports for children 12 months old and under. We provide healthy well-balanced breakfasts, lunches and 2 hearty snacks daily. I am full-blooded Italian, and truly love sharing healthy meals and snacks with my children!

Daily curriculum varies depending on group ages and needs, but a variety of activities are always provided throughout the day: coloring, painting, play dough, puzzles, free play, singing, dancing, reading books, listening to music, talking about weather, water play, sand play, bubbles, slides, nature walks, blocks, toy trucks and cars, trains, animals, dolls, dress up clothes, and circle time--just to name a few! Life with children is always active and exciting!

Alyssa's Family Child Care, LLC

Alyssa's Family Child Care has been in business for 9+ years. It is a state licensed facility. We are located about 1 miles from RT 495 and 140. I am able to care for six children at a time plus two before and after school children.

Hours: 7:00am-5:00pm.

$35/half day (mornings only)
I own an 8 passenger vehicle so we do go on field trips and bring some of our kids to preschool for the mornings. I provide milk, water, and juice as well as morning and afternoon snacks. You would provide lunch and a snack to go with lunch. I also provide diapers and wipes for children who are not yet trained.

Our day is as follows for the school year:
*7:00-9:00 : Drop Off
*9-9:30 : Free Play
*9:30-9:45 : Morning Snack
*9:45-10:15 : Circle time/Story Time
*10:15 : Project time/Worksheet time (older kids)
*After Project-12 : Free Play/outdoor time
*12:00-12:30 : Lunch time
*12:30 : Hygiene (teeth brushing, hand washing)
*12:45-3:00 : Nap time
*3:00 : Afternoon snack
*3:30-5:00 : Indoor/Outdoor free time depending on weather until pick-up.

Our summer time day is different only because we do go on many outings as I try to give the kids a true "summer".

I am a strong believer in children learning through outside experiences. We do take many trips as well as run errands. In my opinion, children do not learn how to behave in public unless they are shown by going places. We go everywhere from the grocery store to the Southwick Zoo. A few places we have
been are; Southwick Zoo, Kidz Wurld, Norton Library, Taunton Library, hiking at the Blue Hills, Roger Williams Zoo, Freetown Wading Pool, Mall play areas, McDonalds, Friendlys, Frenzy, Gym Hutt Gymnastics, Kids Karate class, open Swim at the YMCA. So as you can see, we do travel.

Openings vary from time to time. If this is something you would be interested in please email me and we can set up a time for you to come down and check out our facility. I also have a Facebook page for the daycare with pictures of the facility and some of the activities we do here.

I look forward to hearing from you!
