I currently work part time with a teenager on the autism spectrum and an older gentleman on the spectrum. I have experience with ABA programming and have worked with various types and degrees of behavioral issues. I have over 13 years of experience with the developmentally disabled. I began at a Memorial Foundation working with profoundly DD clients, helping with personal hygiene, feeding, toileting, and following the ISPs. I then went to the Association for the Developmentally Disabled, where I worked in a Supported Living household, assisting clients with daily living tasks, errands, medication management and socialization skills. At the Columbus Center for Human Services I was an activity assistant, providing daily activities and social interaction opportunities. I am interested in the Autism Spectrum and have a few years of experience working with children with autism. I have worked at a day camp for children with special needs, which entailed outings and activities designed to teach social skills, which I loved. I enjoy helping people reach the highest level of independence and self-sufficiency they can, and being able to assist them when something is too difficult. I believe everyone has the right to feel valued and respected, and I strive to show the people I work for that they are worth unconditional acceptance.
