I am a certified Special Education teacher. I have 10 years experience as a teacher's assistant and 2 years experience as a classroom teacher of students' with special needs. I have worked with children from the age of 3 all the way up to young adults up to the age of 21. I have the most experience with children on the Autistic Spectrum. I spent a total of 4 years in a private school specifically for children on the spectrum. Additionally, I have done respite care and chaperoned a special needs boy scout camping trip. Moreover, I have worked with students with Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Oppositional defiant/Behavioral disorders and PDD. I have always wanted to work with children since I, myself, was a child, and have a passion for working with children who need a little extra patience and caring. I truly enjoy the company of children and am a very patient and understanding person. I have received extensive training in the area of special education, particularly in the area of behavior modification and behavior analysis. I have worked closely with a number of special educational professionals such as: occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, behaviorists, and school psychologists/social workers. Therefore, I truly understand the different needs of each child and will gladly reinforce any skills that you may want your child to obtain.
