I'm constantly learning from those with special needs. Special needs persons don't allow you to give of yourself at a surface level; they make you dig deep within yourself in order to meet their needs. I've learned that there is no absolute right answer or way to do something with special needs, it takes creative thinking; what worked yesterday may not work today, and what worked for one special needs person may not work with someone else. What I've learned most while working with special needs persons is to take each person and treat them as an individual, each person brings something special in their character or the way they think and feel about certain situations. I've learned that special needs person most often will NOT change their ways or outlook on something, so I have to figure out how to reach them in their world instead of trying to get them to understand my way of doing things. It's hard work but I enjoy working with special needs of all ages, they all have one thing in common, they all enjoy knowing that someone love and care for them. Thank you, Theresa

Theresa was a member of the church in Atlanta where I was an evangelist for four years. During that time, we had the care of my elderly mother who had limited mobility and worsening dementia. Theresa was proactive in taking an interest in my mother, helping us care for her, spending one-on-one time with her. She would spend her own money to buy Mom lunch many Sunday afternoons and visit with her for hours. When we moved to Virginia, Theresa flew up with my wife and Mom and cared for Mom for several days until we could get our new house in order. Theresa has shown herself to be motivated, adaptable, concerned for others, competent in caring for those in challenging situations. She is also a person of strong moral values; she can be trusted and depended upon. I highly recommend Theresa to anyone needing trustworthy, conscientious care for a loved. one.
