In high school, I volunteered in the special education classes every so often. A few of my classmates and I often helped out with projects and parties they had, this included communicating, actively engaging and sometimes transportation of them, somewhere else in the building. I also have have some friends who have things such as asthma and epilepsy. While I have not experienced first hand an epileptic seizure, I do understand what needs to be done when I notice one coming on. In fact, my Bible study had a mock one just in case our member fell ill. I have also briefly cared for a child on the Autism spectrum. I do not know which side she was on but she was extremely friendly and loved to hug everyone when they entered the room. She also had some behavioral problems and needed to be taken to the restroom every so often, because she would have accidents if she was concentrating too hard on playing with the other children. She was 6. By no means am I an expert or anything, but I have some experience. I am a patient person who genuinely cares for others and wants to help everyone. I also believe that I am a passionate person about wanting everyone to fit in or not having anyone feel left out or to help with something that they have no control over.
