I have my Master's degree in Education and am a dually certified general elementary education and special education teacher (k-12) for a wide range of subjects and needs. Before I had my son, I was a cross categorical resource special education teacher. I work with children who struggle with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and behavioral/emotional disorders. I also work with children who do not have any diagnosed disabilities; but who are struggling in the classroom and need additional 1-on-1 or small group instruction in reading, writing, math, or test taking strategies. I have been a tutor after school, throughout summer vacations, and while I was in college and graduate school for a wide age range of students with a wide variety of academic needs. I have experience from Kindergarten through high school, though I specialize in elementary level subjects and socialization for special needs students at a variety of ages. I love working with children who need extra support because I am a firm believer that all children can learn, no matter what their circumstance. I love celebrating with children and their parents and showing them all the progress they have made in our time together. Helping a child to recognize their own potential and making them believe in themselves is so fulfilling. Good teachers don't become teachers for money; we do it for the children; for the future. I will need to bring my son (born 3.25.13) with me to your home during the early months. If this is a concern, contact me and we can discuss options!
