I love working with children with special needs because it's incredibly gratifying. I chose a self-designed major in college incorporating child development, psychology, education, and social work in order to be able to understand and attend to the diverse needs of the whole child. I went on to get my teaching credential (elementary level) and have earned units towards my Master's Degree in education. I have over 11 years' experience working with children including teaching, tutoring, camp counseling, nanny jobs, and more. I have worked with many children with special needs including those dealing with autism spectrum disorders, Asperger's, ADD, ADHD, deafness, visual impairment (adults), speech delays, asthma, epilepsy, dyslexia, mental illness, and Tourette's Syndrome. Children tend to relate well with me, and I'm always patient, fair, even-tempered, and willing to hear them out. I also have experience with restricted dietary needs.
