I have been working with individuals with autism for the past 8 years. When I first began it was through a local school district who took a chance on training me in discrete trial training and ABA methods. I became so involved in learning more about this particular population that I decided to go back to school. Four years ago, I completed my Bachelor's in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior. I found that working with individuals with autism in a wide variety of ages and venues allowed me the opportunity to work with a wide variety of diagnoses. I particularly love coming up with behavioral plans that will help the individual to cope with daily living skills. This can be anywhere from learning to brush your teeth or obtaining independence in a school setting. I have worked with ages as early as 3 up to 17, both one-to-one and also in a classroom. I greatly enjoy the small successes and even the challenges that come along with trying to figure out why someone may behave a certain way and how we can shape that behavior into something positive.
