There is a special place in my heart for children with disabilities. I can remember my preschool days vividly when I was part of a program that adapted special needs children with all of the others. I was always that child that was extremely patient and kindhearted with the children that were special needs, and that has not changed to this day. I have worked in depth with those with developmental impairments for about four years now. While I was in high school, I volunteered at Benhaven, tutoring autistic adults from very low, to very high levels of functioning. For the past four years now, I have taught swim lessons at the North Haven pool, specializing in the adaptive classes which are private lessons for children with some type of special need and I absolutely love it. To be completely honest, I would rather provide my expertise to the developmentally challenged than to others.
