In high school, I worked one-on-one with a child with Downs Syndrome once a month for a year. I have also interned in two inclusive classrooms while in college. I have had the opportunity to teach and work with students wish ADHD, autism, as well as other special needs students. As I continue my education and am provided with more opportunities to work with children with special needs, I grow more and more passionate about it. Passion is not something that can be taught or force, but an inward motivation. My passion for working with children with special needs grows with each time I see them smile, hear them crack a joke, and see them learning, growing, and enjoying life to the fullest. Being a part of that growth in the life of a child is the most honorable job I could imagine to have, and in my opinion, a true privilege.
