I graduated in December 2008 from Stony Brook University with my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I also minored in Philosophy. I live in Baldwin (South Shore Nassau County). I am a non-smoker, and have a reliable car and a perfect driving record. I am willing to drive/travel, and would also be willing to perform basic house-keeping duties, if necessary. I love pets and I recently renewed my CPR/First Aid/AED certifications. As far as experience goes, I have worked with children since I was about 14 years old. I worked at Twin Oaks Day Camp in Freeport, New York, for about 7 summers, particularly with kids ages 3-4, though I have been placed with kids from the age of 2 to about 12. I have been babysitting for about the same time; including steadily on Friday/Saturday nights, and my most recent job involved being a mother's helper for a family with four boys, one of whom had many developmental/behavioral issues. I have also worked with infants and younger toddlers between the ages of 6 and 21 months. I enjoy working with and learning from children and in the past, I have really bonded with the families I have worked with. I still keep in contact with them and go to the kids' birthday parties and camp events and those kinds of things. I am hoping to find a family to get to know and to enjoy working with but also to provide a positive environment for the kids. I can, of course, provide excellent references from past families I have worked with on Long Island as well as from the camp administrators, and will provide information upon request. Generally, I ask for $12 per hour, and I feel that this is fair based on my prior experiences and education, although it is negotiable. During the week, I work as a Client Coordinator at a group home in Lawrence, New York. There are 12 residents in the home; all of whom are developmentally disabled.
