I have 10 years experience working as a certified nursing assistant II. I'm CPR certified. I am currently pursuing a career in nursing. I have worked with several special needs children. I have worked with autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy, heart defects, mental retardation and children with mobility challenges. I recently worked with three children, two of which had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) which is a severe recessive X-linked form of muscular dystrophy characterized by rapid progression of muscle degeneration, eventually leading to loss of ambulation and death. The third child had a learning disability. I basically took charge and cooked meals, washed and folded laundry, took kids to appointments, helped with homework, baths, exercise and crafts and games, and coordinated the family schedule. I could have not ask for a better family to work for. The family consisted of eight total in the house. I had to leave them due to my husband's job transfer and that was a hard task! I love these children, like my own!
