As a teacher/governess, I offer the following services to children within your own home: * Providing activities that support babies' early learning through sensory development * Providing dietary assistance to enhance baby and child nutrition * Enhancing students' reading, writing, math, and science skills * Assisting with homework * Providing educational enrichment that goes beyond the conventional school curriculum My background, experience, and expertise enable me to help students with a range of subjects from the elementary school curriculum and with their homework. I also provide enrichment to help students broaden their outlook, find a greater sense of themselves, and gain a deeper appreciation for the finer things in life. Through themes like the life of Florence Nightingale, I lead them through related topics like art, music, literature, history, math, geography, science, and values, thus enhancing their interest in subjects that range far beyond the usual TV cartoon programs. I am a South African by birth but grew up in Swaziland. I have a passion for teaching and training children from various cultures. Having lived the life of an expat in Hong Kong and now in Bethesda, Maryland, I understand the complexities involved in living abroad. I facilitated workshops with children and families who relocated from various countries to South Africa, including aspects of repatriation. My experience includes working with children both with and without disabilities, such as dysgraphia, dyslexia, dyspraxia, attention deficit disorder, auditory and visual perception problems, and Tourette's syndrome. I focus on teaching and training children for the university of life so they have a general knowledge beyond the norm. This knowledge enables them to better appreciate the arts. They will learn about the great masters in music and eurhythmics as found in the Dalcroze and Kod ly methodologies. They will learn about classical literature. Patterns and shapes found in math and science are incorporated into lessons on artists like Pablo Picasso. I tune into children and allow the needs I notice to guide me to the methods I should use to unlock their potential to become the best they can be. Children, like adults, deal with emotions, so Emotional Freedom Techniques are used when appropriate. My extensive international travel and network help me enrich the lives of children.
