I cared for a 10-year-old girl with Down syndrome my senior year of high school. I tutored her every afternoon in her classroom, and would also work on other social skills such as playing games, doing puzzles, and using creativity for crafts. I also cared for (and still do occasionally) a 6-year-old girl with severe cerebral palsy. I am comfortable with giving her medications, changing her, working her wheel chair, and entertaining her. I have a passion for children with special needs, and my heart breaks sometimes, but it is also very rewarding.
