My older sister has severe disabilities. She had an inter-cranial bleed at birth. As a result she has autistic tendencies, is epileptic, and non-verbal. I have full first hand experience, the 25 years I have been alive. At 19 I started working with my sister, I moved in with her to become a live-in aide, provided support in the community & at home four days a week (4 yrs). I still hang out w/ her Fridays and we get to enjoy sister time. I travel with her to conferences, help w/ grocery shopping, help her to communicate by typing (facilitated communication) & help her w/ daily activities (requires 24 hr care & assistance w/ most things-eating, taking meds, changing, bathing, going to the bathroom, physically walking or getting in/out of car, as well as being legally blind-so I help support her with verbal cues about her surroundings; while applying physical support). I managed a day care where I worked on teaching the staff & parents behavior training, as well as working w/ the children using behavior training. I extended this by working with children and families outside kids club. I work at an elementary school. I have a BA in early child ed moderate-severe disabilities
Bachelor's, 2014
