Hi there, My name is Kayla K and I am a 21-year-old student. Most of my experience is personal from mostly from my mother. She is an in-home daycare provider (has been for 12 years) and I am the eldest of 8 children as well. Most of my life it has been second nature to me to care for younger children, from newborn to 10 years old. Since my mother has been heavily trained in child development, she has made sure ever since I was little that I would have her same understandings. One of my little brothers was born with Hydrocephalus and had a few other disabilities as well. I was about 14 at the time and my mother was going through a lot so, I had to take the step to make sure he was well taken care of and as healthy as possible. This left me with the responsibility of being his "other mother" not just a sister. Because of this, I am more open and willing to take on disabled children, although I do not have any direct experience. I hope that I can find a great loving child and family to help out with! And that they are open enough to do some light training on the child's schedule and their specific needs.
