I have experience both as a care provider and as a mother of emotional/behavioral special needs teenagers. I am CPR certified but not CNA certified. I am very patient and gentle and will always give my all to anyone I take care of. I worked for a year as a caregiver to a bedridden 54-year-old non-verbal woman who had a traumatic brain injury (rendering her effectively quadriplegic). She required bathing, feeding (with a spoon), toileting, personal hygiene, etc. I also worked with a 60-something year old man whose legs had been amputated due to complications with diabetes, and who suffered multiple "mini" strokes during the time I was with him. I did his housekeeping, laundry and went shopping with him. My three children all have ADHD with multiple behavioral issues, and one has also been diagnosed alternately with bipolar, psychosis, autism, MR and low functioning. What I know is that he is on the spectrum and has been evaluated differently as he has grown and matured. I've done a lot of research and learned quite a bit about caring for special needs children along the way. I like making other people's lives easier and giving respite where needed.
