I personally believe that individuals with special needs are some of the most loving and beautiful people in the world. In my own family I have two close cousins with autism and one with severe down syndrome. I consider myself a compassionate and patient person which are two important qualities when dealing with special needs individuals. I have worked as a counselor at university summer camp's program which deals specifically with special needs children from autism to OCD and more. I am also a "lunch buddy" for a 20-year-old with autism at my university through a program. As for physical disabilities, my own brother has type 1 diabetes so I am comfortable with assisting in blood meal preparation, sugar testing, insulin injections and use of Glucagon injections. I also have experience assisting individuals with speech impairment, learning impairment and mobile disabilities.
