Enter a zip code to get matched with caregivers that meet your needs
This past summer I was fortunate enough to work at a summer camp that provided a fully accessible facility for a diverse population of students with special needs. Each week we hosted a group of children with similar diagnoses, helping them with several activities including meals, swimming, horseback riding, zip-lining and relationship building. The diagnoses I was able to work with include: Prader-Willi syndrome, juvenile diabetes, multiple amputees, low vision & blindness, hearing impairments, hand differences (such as ambiotic band syndrome, syndactyly, polydactyly, & traumatic hand loss), arthrogryposis, severe asthma and neurological disorders (cerebral palsy, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy) I also have experience working with students in schools that have learning disabilities and/or developmental delays. Working with children with special needs is extremely rewarding, and I enjoy helping them gain independence and confidence, even if it is a task as simple as being able to brush their hair on their own, or write their name without assistance. I am patient and energetic, and enjoy building relationships with all types of children.
