My experience with childcare first began in high school at the local daycare. I worked there as an assistant teacher. Through high school and college, I have babysat for various families including my niece and nephew. Through high school and college, I have also volunteered at several summer camps. I also have varied experience with special needs ranging from my brother, children from India, and volunteering with Extra Special People. Five years ago, my brother was in a motorcycle accident which caused a traumatic brain injury. Our family has been taking care of him ever since. In India, I lived in an orphanage for two months and was directly responsible for the care of several special needs children. Their needs included cerebral palsy, a child with speech delay, and children with intellectual disabilities ranging from mild to profound. Lastly, I have experience with pet care ranging from a small Shih Tzu, medium sized Golden Retriever and German Shepherd, a large Great Dane, and several cats.
