I worked one-on-one with a young girl with Autism for two years, working on building her communication skills and daily living skills through ABA, or taking her to the park with her younger brother. She and I developed a very strong bond, and she taught me so much about living with Autism, her own uniqueness, and how to succeed despite tremendous obstacles. I also worked for three summers at a camp for people with physical disabilities. I was responsible for their personal care in the morning, during the day, and at night, as well as leading them in arts and crafts and sports activities. I've never enjoyed myself as much as I did those three summers at camp. Every camper was a role model for me; in spite of their physical disabilities, they were determined to succeed and have a good time doing so.
