I am a senior at the University of Tennessee. I am graduating in May with a degree in recreation therapy. I have a background working and volunteering with children with disabilities, both mental and physical. I have volunteered in CDC classrooms throughout Knoxville, developing and implementing recreational therapy activities. I have also worked closely with adults with autism in a respite and recreation day program. Last spring I gained camp experience for a week where I served as a camp counselor to individuals with various disabilities ranging from Down syndrome to severe autism. I also served as a camp counselor, summer 2013, working in Nashville at a day camp for children with various intellectual and physical disabilities. Currently, I am completing a 560-hour practicum at a rehabilitation hospital working with injuries such as strokes, amputations, traumatic brain injury, and spinal chord.
