I provided care and companionship for a 22 year young man with cerebral palsy for approximately 6 months. During my shift we enjoyed going for walks, watching his favorite programs, listening to music, and visiting with other staffing personnel. I also was responsible for bathing, dressing, transfers, repositioning and protective devices both in bed and in wheelchair. I also provided ROM (range of motion) exercises to prevent contractures. He communicated through eye movement and vocal sounds. He also had a gastric feeding tube. I also enjoyed providing care to an adult woman with a brain injury in her home. My duties included all aspects of her care and companionship.
