February 25, 2014 To Whom It May Concern: This letter is written on behalf of Emily M. She was a counselor at a camp program during the summers of 2010-2013. She was also our lifeguard. Emily was responsible for providing supervision and care for children between the ages of 7-26 with a variety of physical and mental disabilities. She was also required to arrange activities and events for them while at camp. Her ideas were always creative and well planned. As lifeguard, Emily was required to keep a keen eye on the children while in the pool or lake and maintain the safety of all individuals in the water. Emily was required to reside in the cabins with the campers and take care of their daily needs. This often required dressing, feeding, showering and diapering. Many of the children were extremely fragile and Emily always handled them with caution and care. Being a counselor at the camp is a very demanding job which requires a great deal of energy, and dedication. Working at here is an excellent experience that has helped to prepare Emily for her future plans. Emily always treated the children with kindness, compassion and tenderness. She was firm when she needed to be. She encouraged the campers to challenge their abilities while always maintaining a safe environment for them. Emily was a very responsible counselor. She was energetic and diplomatic in dealing with individuals and groups. She was an effective member of the counselor team in planning and implementing ideas. She interacts and communicates well with both the campers and other staff. Emily was an outstanding member of our staff and I recommend her wholeheartedly.
