Two years ago, I began working with an 18-year-old boy with autism as attendant care during the summer. As a people person with a passion for helping others, this work led me to a new direction and drive in life and my goals. I have since worked as a Research Assistant in an Autism Clinic, broadening my knowledge and understanding of the diverse nature of this diagnosis. I have also volunteered in a day center for 150 hours with adults with varying intellectually disabilities. Last year, I was employed by Public Schools as an Instructional Assistant for a Campus Transition Program, assisting young adults with special needs in developing skills and independence in an age appropriate environment. In June 2013, I started graduate school to obtain my Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy, continuing to learn about a field and population I have become so passionate about helping.
