I grew up in the self contained classroom of my school from 2 up to 4th grade. Then I became part of my districts first mainstream class. I grew out of most of my accommodations because I had people who told me that potential was unlimited. I went on to college (my 4 - 5th grade teacher said most of her students don't go to college). I felt like I was honoring the impact she had on my life as well as pursuing my dreams. I graduated with a bachelor's of social work. I am a member of a social work honor society. My internship/field placement was in therapeutic foster care. The summer between receiving my bachelor degree and starting my masters I worked in respite with severely emotionally disturbed children who were at great risk of being removed from the home. We worked to provide the children and youth with a camp setting where they would be successful, where in more traditional they might fail. I am working on my masters of divinity, and have worked at a psychiatric hospital as a student chaplain and a CPE student. I also work at a food pantry that serves Morris County and meet many diverse persons with a wide range of needs.
