I am a former Exceptional Education Teacher and YMCA Site-Coordinator for After-School and Summer Programs. Since my early high school years, I have known that I wanted to work with the special needs population. It is my personal goal to uplift the lives of those with special needs as well as to assist those family members and full-time caregivers who are in need of respite. I have cared for many children with a variety of needs. My last contract was caring for a 2-year-old boy with a visual impairment who also required physical therapy and leg braces.

I have known Aylan for nearly 20 years and can't speak highly enough of her. She is a very kind person, amazing friend, and wonderful mom. Our boys are close pals so I witness her parenting in action quite a good deal and am always impressed with how she handles situations. Her background in education and experience as a mother serve her well in taking care of other children in her home. She sets limits, has expectations, and goes by a schedule, all of which really help a child feel comfortable in a setting outside their family. But more importantly, she is exceedingly gentle with kids of all ages, getting down on their level to talk to them, and really listening. For this reason, my own children adore her as much as I do. Being the amazing friend she is, she helped me during a hard time by watching my son when my daughter has had doctors appointments for a difficult medical condition. While he was with her, she took him under her wing and really made him feel special. It is important for me to note that my son has severe food allergies, and I wouldn't trust him with just anyone. I know that Aylan takes great caution with such important medical concerns and really processed all my directives with his diet, even if it was just for a short visit. This is her approach with everything - taking note of what a child needs and making it happen. She is also very easy to talk to, and can receive instruction and feedback without taking it personally, which is an incredibly important skill for a caregiver to have. She helps children in her care - especially those with special needs - thrive by being a consistent, loving presence in their lives. Anyone should consider themselves incredibly lucky to have Aylan look after their children.
