I have babysat multiple special needs children in the daycare setting as well as in their homes. In the daycare, I took care of children with Autism and Down's Syndrome while caring for up to 10 other children at the same time. I also babysat for a child with Autism in home. I babysat for him when he was 4-6 years old, prepared meals for him, played with him, took him outside, changed his diapers, and put him to bed at night. I also babysat their other child at the same time, who is not disabled. I really enjoy working with special needs children because I find that often times people don't give special needs children enough time, credit, or attention. I try to give them the time and effort they need to help engage them, and it is really great to interact with them and see them participate in activities in any way they can. Also, I had a brain tumor at the age of 4, so I have been around people with special needs for a long time. I am not special needs, but I have been around plenty of children with special needs and I have a soft spot for them.
