I grew up with an older brother who has cerebral palsy and mental brain damage. This was all I knew, and though many do not understand the struggles of the daily life, I know better than most the difficulties that families can face on a regular basis. Sometimes an extra hand, friend, and heart is all that is needed to make a big difference in someones life. It was never a burden having a brother with special needs, it taught me a great deal how to care, understand, listen, have patience, how to find the joy and fun in ordinary moments. I love my big brother, and I am who I am because of his influence on my heart and life.
