I am a 33-year-old certified K-12 special education teacher. I am single with no children of my own. I am currently finishing my 11th year of teaching at a high school with a county school system. I have taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels since graduating from the University of Georgia in 2005. I have experience educating, advocating for and holding IEP meetings for children with a range of disabilities: other health impairment, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorder, specific learning disability, emotional behavior disorder, developmental delay, vision impairment, and deaf and hard of hearing. I am passionate about teaching because I enjoy seeing children grow both academically and behaviorally. I believe all students should have access to the general education curriculum, and that each child CAN be taught and CAN learn with the appropriate accommodations, modifications, assistive technology and with the guidance of a patient, persistent, enthusiastic and knowledgeable educator.
