Even before receiving my Sociology degree I began working for those in need, beginning with a Native American Orphanage, followed by a VISTA urban position creating handicapped public educational workshops. I continued being a part of a coed group home for Autistic children and young adults. Moving back East, I began and have continued to be a personal Caregiver for individuals in their homes, chiefly with seniors but also back to a group home for adults with Autism that lasted 7 years. Individual assistance included those who where blind, recovering from surgery, wheel chair-to-bed to wheel chair bound and those with Alzheimer's leading to dementia. While semi-retired now, I have dedicated my personal time to continuing to help those in need from companionship to special needs. And while not young by age, I can still perform those necessary tasks, but most importantly, exhibit sensitivity and heart and humanity to those I serve.
