Our son is 6. 5 years old. He's got a good sense of humor, loves, loves loves cars, and is a bit of a ping pong ball with most activities, zipping all around. He communicates with a combination of vocalizations, hand gestures, ASL, and an AAC device. He has a rare genetic disorder called Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (22q13. 33 deletion syndrome). This is considered an autism spectrum disorder, by many. We are looking for a long term care provider. Someone who is energetic, fun, and patient. The caregiver must be IHSS qualified or be willing to get qualified. Someone with experience with special education and ABA therapy is a plus. Most hours would be spent at our home in Alameda and accompanying the family to various activities.
