Seeking care for my mother in her 80 s. Services needed: companionship, help staying physically active. No prior experience required. Specialized care needs: nursing experience. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my mother: she can be anxious, lethargic, reserved. Mom has recently lost her independence, quite suddenly. Until May of this year she was a vibrant, able to do things on her own, and then everything changed almost overnight. She had colorectal cancer in 1975, and has managed her own ostomy until now. She is now too weak. She is also incontinent. She had a pulmonary embolism in August, urine retention, distended bladder. It seems that the combination of these issues have contributed to a deep depression. I'm looking for someone who is patient, quiet. Mom needs someone who is kind, patient, and understanding. She also needs someone who is not pushy, does not ask a lot of questions, and doesn't mind just sitting waiting for their help to be needed. Mom doesn't really enjoy many things, her main activity prior to this illness was shopping, and local sightseeing. She does not really like to read, or do puzzles, or draw, color, anything like that. She will occasionally want to watch some TV, but not for very long.
