Seeking care for my grandmother in her 90s. Services needed: companionship, meal preparation, medication prompting, light housekeeping. Looking for someone with 7+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: support for memory care. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my grandmother: she can be pleasant, grouchy, independent. She is 97 almost 98. She has glaucoma and macular degeneration causing her to not be able to see clearly. She can't read the newspaper, or any books. Refusing to use the audio books. Likes country music when she likes it and will tell you when she doesn't. She is able to dress herself and toilet herself. I prefer that she doesn't use the stove unattended as she will forget and walk away or turn on wrong burner. She uses the microwave but tends to make things explode and over run. She likes to have conversations but there may be times she is annoyed and doesn't want to talk at all. She says she likes to play Rummy but none of the family has ever seen her play and we don't play. Doesn't like to be watched when she eats. She's angry that family doesn't want her to be alone. She feels that she can still take care if herself. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty, quiet, fond of pets. My grandma has a cat that usually doesn't come out from hiding with new people in the house. Can't be allergic to cat dander. Someone that can read and anticipate the moods of someone with dementia. Doesn't take things personally. She has a standing hair appointment every Friday so may need to take her a couple of blocks from home to the hairdresser.
