Hi. My name is Dawn. I was a Nanny for a special needs little girl for the last three and a half years, but the family just moved this summer to Spokane, Washington. I especially enjoy hiking at local nature parks, arts and crafts projects, reading, learning about science, and getting out of the house to go to the library, gardens, museums, and the zoo. Besides this last position I also have previous professional experience at Knowledge Beginnings, and KinderCare daycare centers, and volunteer experience in elementary school classrooms, and Cub Scouts. I have two children, who are now in middle school, and college. My Dad worked for the State Department so I grew up overseas in Germany, Russia, Australia, China, Sweden, and Taiwan. I returned to the U. S. to complete high school at Hawaii Preparatory Academy because the International School in Beijing only went through the ninth grade, and then went on to college in New York State. My hobbies are reading, LEGO, and genealogy.

I grew up in Moldova, Russia, where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Business and Administration. Once I moved to the U. S., I owned a Russian restaurant for 5 years in Chicago, Illinois. I managed to build up my cooking skills, ranging from making delicious Russian salads, soups, and many different types of dishes. To my years of cooking experience, I learned many valuable skills, such as: positive and humble human interactions, cash-handling skills, good manners, patience, etc. I have had over 30 years of child experience, due to the fact that I have four children, aged: 17, 19, 21, and 30, who are attending college in order to pursue their dreams. In addition, I have been baby-sitting four kids, aged 10 (triplets), and the oldest being 13, who are children to two police officers. This job gave me an admirable experience for five years and brought me closer to my pursuit of happiness. Simultaneously, I have been a caregiver to a humble grandfather, for about four years also.

I began working with children at a young age when I was asked to help take care of other children in an orphanage in Russia. I was adopted when I was seven and grew up in a very nourishing family who taught me the joy of life and how Jesus makes the difference. I've graduated from Clarks Summit University with an Early Childhood and Education degree and worked for 2 years in Kiev, Ukraine teaching 4th grade. Before that, I nannied for a family with 5 and 7-year-old boys. Although I have enjoyed teaching, I have found that I love working with less students to explore and learn in everyday interactions instead of a strict school setting!

I am originally from Moscow, Russia, where I worked as a professional athlete for the national teams for 20 years. After competing in the 1996 Olympics, I retired from athletics to pursue a career in childcare, specifically in preschool/elementary physical education. I have accumulated about 20 years of childcare and education experience in the US . My first jobs in the US were full time nanny positions for high-class families. After the Olympics, I became focused on preschool and elementary physical education as well as middle school/high school athletics. I have worked as a physical education teacher, cross country, and track and field coach in private/independent school settings for students of ages ranging from three to 18, and a personal trainer for young athletes of all sports. As well as these positions, I worked as a caretaker in after-school programs with children from three to 14, plus summer care.

I have been a nanny for about 4 plus families. I am 26 years old. With a college degree in Psychology. I was adopted from Russia at the age of 8 and I have a huge passion working with children. I started being a mothers helper at age 9/10 and I did that for about 4 years and grew into babysitting gigs and than I started working at a church in the nursery from newborn through 5 years of age. Then babysitting non stop and at the age of 17 I started nannying for different families! I have grown a lot over the years and learn more and more each and every day. I believe that children should have a lot of outdoor time as well as hands on activities such as daily art activities and fun science projects. I don't put them in front of a television usually unless if I need to clean up but the longest is 30 minutes.
